We are seeking an Instruments & Controls Technician to provide building controls, instrumentation, automation systems, discrete controllers and low voltage electrical systems maintenance and calibration, assist the Chief Engineer and Help Desk with tasks as assigned.

INSTRUMENT & CONTROLS TECHNICIAN - Chandler, AZ

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain good tenant relations through prompt and courteous response to tenant requests within the guidelines set forth by JLL.
  • Track and trend operation of instrumentation, automation systems, discrete controllers and low voltage electrical systems
  • Maintain calibration logs for all measurement devices
  • Provide weekly/monthly reports and trends as required
  • Maintain calibration of measurement systems as required by PM scheduling system.
  • Respond to instrumentation and automation issues to support continuous operations and comfortable office and working environments.
  • Monitor instrumentation and automation systems for potential problems (or existing problems) and formulates solutions to be presented to the Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer for appropriate action.
  • Review on a regular basis and is prepared to follow all current emergency procedures set forth by JLL and the assigned property.
  • Perform all work in a safe manner.
  • Aid in the ordering, stocking and inventory of supplies as directed by the Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer.
  • Perform general maintenance within the building as directed.
  • Maintain ethical, professional and courteous relations with contractors.
  • Act as a team member with all employees of the management staff.
  • Comply with all written JLL and regional company policies.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma and/or Vocational School Certificate
  • Journeyman electrical license preferred (where applicable)
  • CFC Universal certificate preferred; ISA certification desirable.
  • 5 years of critical environment or data center experience
  • Safety awareness/knowledge/training when working with controls, instrumentation, automation systems, discrete controllers and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Professionally communicate issues, ideas and remedies to the Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer.
  • Minimum 5 years controls, instrumentation, automation system experience in industrial/commercial environment.
  • Ability to effectively use one or more of the following when troubleshooting control systems: instrumentation drawings, electrical diagrams.
  • Perform instrumentation calibration for typical field instrumentation: Level, Temperature, pH (Analytical), Flow, Pressure transmitters, Control valves and Positioners.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of PID controllers, final control elements and Variable Frequency Drives.
  • Working knowledge with one or more of the following: Building DDC controls, SCADA control systems, PLC based control systems and DCS control systems.
  • Working knowledge with instrumentation calibration equipment and procedures. VOM meter, temperature baths, instrument loop calibrators, pneumatic test equipment and gauges.
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot relay logic
  • Ability to troubleshoot DDC code and/or PLC ladder logic
  • Computer literate with Windows applications and maintenance CMMS packages.
  • Visually inspect operating conditions within the building.
  • Detect emergency alarms - auditory and/or visual.
  • Walking, lifting and climbing required.
